This started as a weekend hiking trip to Mount Magdala via Mount Stirling in the Victorian High Country but the sudden weather change put a halt to our plans. We were about 1600 metres above sea level and the snow was falling lightly, however, according to a CB radio broadcast by a fellow camper, behind us and lower down, the snow was deep and soft, which meant waiting until it melted.
