My name is Joseph Debono. If you have a JavaScript capable browser you'll be able to find a little picture of me hidden somewhere on these pages. I work as an Applications Trainer with a large pre-press company in Melbourne, Australia. My computer-based interests include desktop publishing using Illustrator, QuarkXPress, InDesign, Photoshop and of course the world wide web, the ultimate in desktop publishing.

My working computer is a Macintosh G4 Aluminium PowerBook running Mac OS X. It has a 65 GB hard disk, a built-in 56K V.90 fax modem, Bluetooth, CD-RW, DVD-RW. Also a brilliant 17 inch display supporting millions of colors. It has 1 Gb RAM! I am very impressed with the new operating system and the power and speed of the G4.

The Internet is another of my interests and I spend far too much time playing with HTML! Do a search for "puzzle" and play some interesting little time-wasters! Also, search for "funny" if you want a laugh.

I use a Palm IIIc hand held organiser. I must admit I was rather unexcited about these gadgets but I am quickly becoming a convert. It is very awesome to have thousands of bits of information at the tip of your fingers, or should I say in the palm of your hand!

My old Ericsson T610 died recently so a new acquisition is my Nokia 6260 Smart Phone. My favourite feature is Bluetooth which connects nicely with my PowerBook, very handy to transfer files back and forth. It even has software which allows me to read PDFs and Word documents! The built-in camera comes in handy occasionally, it even takes short movies. Pictures are easily transferred to and from my PowerBook.

I know I'm spoilt but I work hard enough and I think I deserve these beautiful machines.

Away from my computer I enjoy the outdoors. See the Bush section for more including some beautiful Australian images from my travels. Many of the trips were expeditions conducted by "The Wanderers" Four - Wheel - Drive Club. It's been a while since our last big excursion, due to family and other commitments. We look forward to the day, hopefully soon, when we are again able to make plans for an extended trip to the outback in South Australia and the Northern Territory, the deserts around Alice Springs, the High Country in Victoria or the rain forests in North Queensland. Western Australia has its own charm and uniqueness however the sheer travel distances required to get there makes it that much more of a challenge to get to, but certainly well worth the effort. I support the Carlton Football Club, the Mighty Blues and have done for many years. I recently became interested in the NRL and follow the Melbourne Storm who won the premiership in only their second year in the league.

It would not be a complete page without the mention of my favourite two characters on TV. Dana Sculley and Fox Mulder from the X Files. We don't take them seriously of course but we can't help "wanting to believe" in the paranormal and the unidentified.

My mode of transport on 4 wheels is a Toyota Prado, (The Wanderer II) pictured here prior to our boarding the Spirit of Tasmania. We spent two fabulous weeks in Tassie exploring the many national parks and camping among the wildlife. We certainly intend to visit the island again and spend a lot more time exploring it.

On two wheels I ride a Yamaha Diversion XJ900S. It's a 900cc, double overhead cam, 5-speed, shaft-drive job with twin panniers, ideal for commuting in city traffic and comfortable for short to medium distance touring. There's something about cruising along the highway without a steel box hindering you from experiencing the elements.

My YAMAHA has been sold!

An interest I no longer have thanks to Mr Howard is sport/target shooting, I was a member of the Flemington Indoor Pistol Club, I used to shoot a Beretta 9mm and a Colt 357 Magnum. Email me if you want to know more about this exciting activity.
